We have been fortunate to receive an AmeriCorps*VISTA member at Truman State University. Our VISTA member is one of seven VISTAs that are serving across the state of Missouri at seven higher education institutions (see list below) through the Missouri Campus Compact Community Campus Partnership Program (M4C2P) grant that the Missouri Campus Compact received in January of 2007. The goals of this grant are to increase the level of service-learning at each campus and to impact the local poverty level. All AmeriCorps*VISTA members are charged to impact poverty at a local level, and these seven VISTAs aim to fight the war on poverty by facilitating service-learning projects that directly address poverty-related issues in their area.

Our VISTA member will serve through the Center for Teaching and Learning as the Service-Learning Coordinator for the university for the three-year duration of the project grant. One of the first projects our VISTA initiated was the development of a website devoted exclusively to service-learning on our campus. As you explore the resource lists that have been compiled for this page, we hope you find a plethora of pertinent information. If you desire something that we currently lack, please do not hesitate to contact the VISTA to make your suggestion known.
